Profile of the 2010 Technical Committee
The proximity of the Kingdom of Swaziland to South Africa presents an avalanche of opportunities which the Kingdom can convert to benefit the entire citizenry. The government of the Kingdom of Swaziland created political and technical structures to spearhead projects and programmes that will position the country to benefit from the 2010 World Cup. There is a political committee, deliberately created by Cabinet, made up of Ministers from Enterprise and Employment, Housing and Urban Development, Environment, Tourism and Communications, Public Works and Transport and Home Affairs. The committee is responsible for providing political oversight on all matters relating to preparations for the 2010 World Cup. The decision by authorities of the Kingdom to create this political structure is an indication of the seriousness with which the 2010 business is considered.

- To identify and market available opportunities in all aspects of the
2010 FIFA World Cup, for the benefit of the Swazi nation.
- To use the 2010 window as a catalyst for infrastructure development in various spheres.
- To identify and address all elements that could hinder the country from benefiting from proceeds of the World Cup, including legislation, visa and other travel requirements, forex regulations and security restrictions.
- To promote and market the country as a 2010 tourism d
estination, and ideal base camp for teams and fans participating in the World Cup.
- Facilitate participation of the national soccer team in the 2010 World Cup.
- Coordinate implementation of all programmes and projects aimed at preparing the country, in all sectors, for 2010.
The 2010 Technical Committee is a multisectoral committee, appointed by cabinet and gazetted into office through legal notice number 78 of 2007, and is functionally and structurally answerable to the Ministry of Home Affairs and the 2010 political committee. The 2010 Technical Committee is responsible for developing strategic programmes, coordinating implementation of such programmes, evaluating the effectiveness of the programmes, and taking remedial action where necessary. In realizing this goal, the 2010 Technical Committee collaborates with agencies on the ground regarding specific sectoral programmes, and the agencies involve Swaziland Tourism Authority, National Football Association, Swaziland Investment Promotion Authority, National Security Forces, National Public Transport Service Associations, ministries and government departments responsible for such portfolios as immigration, infrastructure development, business licensing, amongst others. .
